Beginners’ ski course for children aged 4 and over
The ideal introduction for budding skiers of all ages
Is this your child’s first time on skis, or have they only just had their first taste of the snow? Then our full-day course for beginners is just the thing. We’ll introduce your child to snow braking and their first turns, taking it step by step and making sure they have lots of fun.
Is your child a bit further along and already turning independently? Then you’ll find the right option in our full-day course for advanced skiers.
Who is this course suitable for?
The full-day course for beginner children is aimed at children aged 4 to 13, whether or not they have any previous experience.
- First experience of snow and skiing, as well as those first turns as a future skiing pro :)
- Orange Level 1 MiniClub for 4-year-olds
- Orange Level 1 and 2 for all beginner children aged 5 and over
- Orange “First Tracks” for 6-year-olds at Level 2 and beginner children aged 7 and over
Children aged 3: A full day is still too tiring for our Bambinis. There’s a separate half-day course for Bambinis at Kühti’s MiniClub.
Course times & organisation
Well organised. Clearly structured.
- Course days: Sunday to Thursday
- Lessons: 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
- Online booking is recommended, particularly during school holidays
- There may be no places left on the day, and it will also be more expensive!

This is how the allocation works at Follow me
When you register online or at the ski school office, your child will be allocated to a group initially. The following details will help us with this:
- your child’s age
- your honest assessment of their experience
- a ski school pass from last year, if available
At Kühti’s Miniclub and Kühti’s Kinderranch, we operate using anorganised station-based system. Initial progress is recorded on a level sticker, and children start at the appropriate station. Your progress is constantly updated on the sticker and stays with you throughout the week :) This also helps us quickly identify where you’ll pick up in the afternoon or the following day.
Four-year-olds start on Sunday at Kühti’s Miniclub, and from the age of five they take the Kühti Express to our Ranch. By the afternoon, the first groups have already been formed and the Miniclub children join the others at the Kinderranch.
For children aged 4 and over who are just starting out. To begin with, your child will learn or practise how to glide down the slope and use the snow brake. As the week goes on, we’ll be making our first brilliant turns in the snow.
Venue: The course starts at Kühti’s Miniclub on Sunday afternoon and then moves to Kühti’s Kinderranch
Kühti’s Miniclub starts right by the meeting point and the Hotel myAVA in the centre of Kühtai. Short distances, a relaxed start and happy children and parents. The course continues at Kühti’s Kinderranch.

Course content
- Acclimatisation, track run, snow braking with assistance during station operations
- Skiing at speed (downhill run) and the snow brake (plough)
- First diagonal runs, turns and snow plough manoeuvres in a group behind the ski instructor
- Turning, plough turns on the practice slope and later heading off to the
top of the run with your own group - Participation in the final race guaranteed
For children aged 5 and over who have completed Level Orange 1, or aged 5 and over with no previous experience. We also start 5-year-olds with experience in this group. Placement in the children’s area is determined using a level sticker :)
Course venue: Kinderranch
Kühti’s Children’s Ranch is our second children’s area and is situated just outside KühtTeppich, Austria’s longest covered conveyor belt. The colourful Kühti Express takes the children there and back every day – that’s the first highlight in itself.

- Turning, plough turns on the practice slope and later heading off to the
start run with your own group - Participation in the final race guaranteed
For children aged 6 and over who are beginners but have some experience and have completed Level Orange 2, or beginners aged 7 and over with no previous skiing experience.
These children learn very quickly and skip Kühti’s Miniclub, the Kinderranch and the KühTunnel. Starting on our new ‘Die erste Spur’ slope allows for a gentle introduction and some practice. Afterwards, we head straight to the Startbahn in Kühtai.

“The First Run” is a new area at the Follow Me Ski School, introduced in the winter of 2025/26. This is where we meet and set off, right in the centre of the village. A flag serves as a guide to the meeting point. See the ski school’s map.
If you’re making rapid progress, we’ll be right next to the group start point for the advanced children (green group).

For our youngest guests in Kühtai, a lot revolves around Kühti, our little cow.
Kühti accompanies the children through their first days on the slopes, watches over them as they practise, and helps to build their confidence, bring them joy and make them feel at home. She’s always there somewhere :)

Yes! We only offer a half-day taster course for you to try out. All our other beginners’ courses are full-day sessions only. This is the only way your child can train in a focused manner and be sure to achieve the week’s learning objectives. Better to have 3 full days than 6 half-days!
Children who attend half-day sessions struggle to keep up with the progress of their peers and end up falling behind the rest of the group.
Our ski school’s own conveyor belts are, of course, free of charge for you. From the KühTeppich or the Startbahn in Kühtai onwards, all customers and guests need a ski pass.
Six-year-old beginners with some experience and children aged 7 and over who are just starting out learn so quickly that they’ll need a lift pass after an hour at the latest.

No problem. To start with, we work in stations. Your child’s progress is recorded directly on our ‘Level Sticker’, so we can see straight away what they’ve already learnt. From the ‘KühTeppich’ stage onwards, we form groups and assign the children to specific teachers.
A coordinator always keeps an eye on learning progress and also coordinates the groups right up to the ‘KühTeppich’ stage. From this point onwards, the relevant teacher is the point of contact for any changes and to discuss progress.
After the beginners’ area, the full-day course continues with the advanced programme.
