Bambini ski course for 3-year-olds

Play-based ski lessons for young children

The Bambini children’s ski course at the Kühtai Ski School is specially tailored to the needs of young children. The focus is on first experiences, play, movement and positive moments in the snow.

Our children’s ski instructors support every child with warmth, patience and empathy. Demonstrating. Giving them time. Learning at their own pace.

A group of eight children dressed in colorful winter ski gear, with helmets and goggles, stand smiling on a snow-covered outdoor play area. They are positioned in front of a wooden building and various playful elements in the background, enjoying a sunny winter day.
A child wearing a helmet and skiing gear sits on a colorful inflatable donut, next to a large cow mascot, both on a snowy surface. In the background, snow-covered mountains and a ski lift are visible.

Our lovingly designed children’s ski nursery is right next to the meeting point and next to Hotel my AVA, the children’s hotel in the centre of Kühtai.

Kühti – our mascot for our youngest guests

For Kühtai’s youngest visitors, a lot revolves around Kühti, our little cow.
Kühti accompanies the children through their first days on the slopes, watches over them as they practise, and helps to build their confidence, bring them joy and make them feel at home.

Why Kühti is so important
  • Kühti helps children overcome their fear of the unfamiliar
  • She helps them feel at ease in unfamiliar surroundings
  • She makes the ski course emotionally accessible
  • Kühti doesn’t like pottering about in the barn – she’s much happier when she’s skiing, going ‘MOOOH’.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about the Bambini children’s ski course (ages 3 and over)

Is my child really ready to go skiing at the age of 3?

Yes – if your child fancies some snow and exercise, and is strong enough to carry their ski boots!
The Bambini course isn’t about skiing technique, but about learning through play, developing balance and having a great time. Every child can take part at their own pace.

That’s perfectly normal. Our children’s ski instructors are trained to build trust gently.
Children are free to watch, take a break or simply play – without any pressure or coercion.

We teach in small groups, tailored to the children’s ages and circumstances. The course runs with a minimum of four children. We provide two teachers to look after just four children! We adapt the sessions according to requirements and space available. We do not yet offer traditional group lessons with a fixed teacher. Safety is our top priority.

No. You’re welcome to accompany your child at the start and drop them off, but please step back for the duration of the booked session. The process of learning to be independent only works if Mum or Dad aren’t nearby! Otherwise, the child won’t want to stay with us and the lesson can’t go ahead as planned. Even standing round the corner and taking photos disrupts our lesson! The children pick up on this very quickly and won’t join in with us.

If, for any reason, the skiing and lessons aren’t working out, please ensure you’re contactable and able to collect your child within about 10–15 minutes.

No. In the Bambini course, we use the sheltered practice area at Kühti’s Miniclub or, later on, at Kühti’s Kinderranch, which has the ski school’s own conveyor belt. We provide this free of charge; it is included in the course price.

  • Nappies must be worn during Bambini lessons (we will ring you and will not change nappies)
  • Ski helmet (compulsory)
  • Fitting ski boots and skis
  • Warm, waterproof ski clothing
  • Gloves & warm ski socks
  • Sun protection for skin and eyes
  • Ski boots and skis that fit

Tip: Better to be comfortable than ‘cool’ – comfort makes all the difference.

No problem. Breaks are a fixed part of the Bambini course.
The Miniclub offers quiet spaces such as the play area, the teepee or the igloo.

No. Bambinis do not take part in races.
At the end of the course, every child receives a gold medal – regardless of their ability.

Yes. You can easily extend your online booking or trial class at the centre.
You’ll just need to pay the additional fee.

What is the difference between a taster session and a Bambini class?

The taster session is the first opportunity to give it a go. There’s no financial risk! If it doesn’t work out just yet, you can simply stop there and try again another time or next year.

The Bambini course builds on this and runs over several days. Courses generally run from Sunday to Wednesday.

Our tip: Parents who are unsure can start off at a relaxed pace with the taster session.

Lessons are taught exclusively by qualified children’s ski instructors who have experience with young children and receive regular in-house training. The focus is on patience, calmness and empathy.

Thanks to the low pupil-to-instructor ratio for 3-year-olds, there are always enough childcare staff on site.
