We are committed to ensuring that this website is accessible in accordance with the Federal Act on Accessibility of Federal Websites and Mobile Applications (Web Accessibility Act – WZG), Federal Law Gazette I No. 59/2019, as amended.

This accessibility statement applies to this website.

Status of compliance with requirements

Due to the following incompatibilities, this website is partially compliant with Conformity Level AA of the ‘Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1’ and with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

Non-accessible content

Due to the historical development of the website, we assume that the website’s content is not fully accessible.


The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:


a. Non-compliance with accessibility requirements

  • Some images and buttons do not have alternative text assigned to them, or the alternative text does not describe the specific image.
  • Some tables do not have headers; in some cases, headings are missing or the heading structure is incorrect; lists are not formatted as such or the ARIA label is missing.
  • The requirements for sufficient contrast in text and non-text content in accordance with WCAG Level AA are not yet consistently met across the website.
  • The structure and labelling of headings and form fields are being continuously revised to improve clarity and usability for all users.
  • The requirement for content to reformat when zoomed in significantly without any loss of information or functionality is largely met; content generally remains usable even at high zoom levels.
  • Keyboard navigation is generally available on the website. Most functions can be used without a mouse, although there are still minor restrictions for some individual elements.
  • We plan to gradually rectify those issues that can be resolved editorially (for example, missing alternative text for images).
  • We plan to gradually rectify those issues that can be resolved through technical means (for example, limited usability).

b. Disproportionate burden

  • The tab order and menu positioning are, in some cases, incorrect
  • Some of our videos are hosted and published on this website, whilst others are hosted on the YouTube video platform. It is not possible to provide the required audio descriptions for some of these videos.

c. The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation

  • Historical documents (e.g. older image and PDF documents) are not accessible, or only inadequately accessible, to screen reader users and are not sufficiently scalable.

Enforcement procedures

If you are not satisfied with the response received via the contact details provided above, you may lodge a complaint with the Complaints Office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the Complaints Office’s contact form.
The FFG examines complaints to determine whether they relate to breaches of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular failures to comply with accessibility requirements, by the Federal Government or an institution under its authority.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must issue recommendations for action to the Federal Government or the relevant legal entities and propose measures designed to remedy the deficiencies in question.
